Why scheduling a day is important?
If you want to perform a task, for example, read a book / do a project you should block a particular time for it, rather than saying I will read a book, say I will read a book every evening 5-7 pm, the second one sounds more practical and effective.

While scheduling you can highlight a task as a must-do. The highlight one may be related to your work/studies, so if you can't finish your whole schedule due to any reason you can prioritise the highlighted task and finish it.

If you like writing you can use a diary or a notebook, but in the digital world there are so many applications available, for example, google calendar, the main advantage of apps is you can synchronise the data and use it on all the devices like your mobile, PC or your friends mobile.
