These two rules are very simple and will be a major tool in avoiding procrastination.
2 minutes rule :
First I came to know about this rule from the book ' Atomic habits by James Clear '
when something takes less than two minutes, don't schedule it, don't set reminders, don't procrastinate, do it NOW
Picking up the keys, paying bills online, calling someone, checking fuel in vehicles etc...so the base is if we have any pending task which can be done in less than two minutes finish it immediately don't procrastinate.
we can also expand it for the habits we want to develop, if you want to read books daily the two minutes task will be sitting on the study desk and opening a book, after two minutes you can continue reading or you can close the book.
For most of us reading is not a problem, getting ready for it is....so after two minutes, it's easy to read a book.
10 minutes rule :
Some tasks cannot be completed in two minutes or cannot be sectioned as two minutes task.
In that case, we can do the task for 10 minutes after 10 minutes it's our choice to continue the task or close it...
How does it help?
Most of the time we don't want to read/write /exercise, in that situation, we can convince ourselves that " I am going to do that for only 10 minutes / 2 minutes". Once begun is half done so most of the time the task is finished
Some people call it a 20 minutes rule 30 minutes rule...etc, you can alter it at your convenience, that doesn't matter, the idea behind this is convincing our brain to do a task by thinking that it's a small task and we won't be doing it for longer time,...
